Sales are down in nearly every retail market across the country as Americans tighten their belts and curb their spending. This means retailers need to get creative in order to increase sales and entice shoppers to part with their hard earned money. One easy way to do this is to design and install attractive point of purchase or POP displays. But what can you do to make the most out of your POP signage? First decide on the structural look of the display, and then carefully choose the design and the colors.
Deciding On The POP Structural Design
POP displays can come in many shapes and sizes so deciding what shape you want should be your first step. Some can be simple vinyl signage, while others can be large structures placed directly on the floor to hold products. Don't be afraid to think outside the box when it comes to your display. Nearly any surface can be used for POP signage so try to take advantage of walls, floors and ceilings.
Once you've determined where and how you'll use your POP signage, then you can start working on the graphic design.
Use Eye Catching Graphic Designs
The graphics of the display will also play an important role. You'll want something that's eye catching and easily helps customers identify with your product. If you're not an accomplished graphic artist, it might be a good idea to hire one or a company that can design something for a large format printing machine. If you're providing digital photographs for the design, you'll want to make sure they are high-resolution files so they'll print well on the large format printing machines.
Your graphic artist will likely sit down with you and ask you what you hope to accomplish with POP displays or vinyl signage. Because they do this for a living, they might have some new ideas you may not have thought of. They're the professionals so take advantage of their expertise!
Careful Use Of Color Will Make Your POP Displays Stand Out
Careful use of color can really make your designs pop. It's a good idea to use colors that are in your product's logo or ones that customers can easily identify with your product.
POP signage can be printed in one color or in full color. The full color format may be more expensive so make sure to get a detailed cost estimate before giving your printing company the go ahead if you're on a strict budget.
Vinyl signage and other POP displays have proven to increase sales, as long as they're thoughtfully designed and well-placed in the store. After deciding to use one, you should first figure out if you want a freestanding display, one that hangs on walls or from the ceiling or one that's placed directly on the floor. Then decide what graphics to use and finally, choose the colors carefully to create a sense of brand recognition. You'll wonder why you didn't do this sooner!
