Triple Diamond Energy Corporation is a private "oil and gas" corporation that was formed as an independent producer of oil and natural gas and is located in Dallas, Texas. The management team at Triple Diamond Energy Corporation (including Chris Jent) has over 35 years combined experience in the successful operation of profitable business entities, including the oil and gas industries.
Engine Improvements Cut Dangerous Emissions
Energy companies such as Triple Diamond Energy Corp. are always searching for cleaner sources of fuel to keep our nations industries operating. But since the world’s demand for oil-based products is skyrocketing year after year, it is important to consider that just as clean energy is a worthy goal, making our use of existing energy products a cleaner process is just as critical.
One of the ways companies are working toward this goal is through researching and developing improvements to engine components in order to reduce the number of dangerous pollutants released during combustion. The diesel engine, a staple of heavy trucks and cargo ships all over the world, has benefitted a great deal from these technological advancements.
Component Modifications Yield Impressive Results
For example, improvements in fuel injection technology have yielded enormous dividends, much to the appreciation of companies like Triple Diamond Energy Corp. Earlier versions of the diesel engines used a precombustion chamber to combine the fuel and air together before transferring it to a cylinder. This process proved wasteful however, as the incomplete combustion led to excess fuel burning and the increased emissions of pollutants. However, today’s computerized engines inject diesel fuel straight into cylinders at just the right times, increasing efficiency tremendously while decreasing overall emissions.
Another important improvement is the use of specialized emission traps known as CRT particulate filters. These filters help trap more pollutants before they leave the tailpipe, lowering the engine’s emissions footprint significantly. Catalytic converters are similar devices that reduce the amount of particulate matter that escapes from the engine. Because of advancements such as these, the traditional sooty smoke that was associated with the first diesel engines is becoming a thing of the past.
Fuel Improvements Play A Large Role In Reducing Emissions
A novel and different approach entirely though, is a field of highly specialized research expressly targeted towards making the diesel fuel itself a much cleaner-burning source of energy. By carefully altering the chemical composition of the fuel at the source, or by infusing the fuel with specially formulated additives, startling reductions in pollution-causing emissions can be achieved without having to change anything about the diesel engine itself. Companies like Triple Diamond Energy Corp. recognize how important it is make this goal a reality.
For example, a special refining process can yield a class of diesel fuels known as ultra low sulfur diesel, or ULSD for short. By subjecting the raw fuel to a more expensive but environmentally advantageous refining process, the quantities of dangerous sulfur inside diesel fuel can be reduced to a mere fraction of its original amount. This approach has been so successful that the Environmental Protection Agency has mandated that traditional low sulfur fuels, with a sulfur content over 30 times higher than their ultra low sulfur counterparts, be completely phased out of use in favor of the cleaner burning ULSD. With improvements to both the engines and fuel itself, overall emission will be reduced for decades to come.
