As we get older, one of the first places we see the signs of age is around our eyes. The muscles weaken, fat pockets grow and the skin sags. The droopy eyes make us look tired and older than our years. If the problem becomes severe enough it can interfere with our peripheral vision.

For cleaning companies and maid services, marketing poses one of the most formidable - and frustrating - hurdles to growing their businesses. Sending out mailers and postcards, and advertising through traditional channels like the Yellow Pages is expensive. And costs are rising. Even worse, the results are usually lackluster, which means the advertising rarely pays for itself.

Make Money With Your Cell Phone

Think about this, having your office in your pocket any
time, any where, just as long as you can receive a cell
signal.

Did you realize that now, you can do just that? That's
right, you can conduct your internet marketing business
with nothing at all but your cell phone. Now, talk about
independence and freedom.Just think, no more having to be
at the office at a certain time, whether it is at your home
or downtown. Conduct any part of your business what ever,at
any time, just find a signal and go to work.

Just imagine, 4 Billion people who look at their cell phone
dozens of times per day. And this is going on world wide,
not just in your neighborhood. This makes your potential
customer base immense, and the growth isn't going to stop
any time soon. The market just keeps getting bigger. You
can reach more people via their cell phone than any other
media on the planet.

More people have a cell phone than have a television,
computer, internet or anything else you can think of!
Now,what if there was a way to make money legally within
this huge pool of cell phone users? Well, guess what, there
is a way.Advertise on the cell phone network the same way
as on the internet.

The difference is, with this method you are putting your
ads in front of people without them having to look for
them. And they only see the ads if they are already looking
for the particular item that you are promoting. Imagine
that!

There are several legitimate services that allow you to
send messages to people through their cell phones, and
These services have never been talked about by any of the
top "Gurus" or Internet Marketing coaches. They are also
100% legit because the last thing you want is to use a
service that's involved in spamming or any other illegal
practices.

The most incredible part is that the cell phone market is
virtually un-tapped. Having this method is like being the
first person to figure out that email was a good way to
promote products to people back in 1998. Can you imagine
how much money that person made?

This is the same situation, it's virgin territory, and with
4.3 Billion people in the market and tens of thousands more
joining every day there is, there will never be any danger
of over-saturation.

What I'm talking about is using cell phones as a method to
make quick and easy money. They're very popular, necessary
and everywhere on the planet. But despite a drumbeat about
mobile phones being the new frontier in the ad world,
marketers have been slow to dial it up, particularly in the
USA.

In an article from USA Today, "The level of knowledge and
understanding of the mobile marketplace by traditional and
digital agencies doesn't really exist today," according to
Dan Rosen, managing director, AKQA Mobile in London, a
unit of San Francisco-based digital agency AKQA.

Also from USA Today, global marketers should be advised
that mobile handsets are the number one way people access
the Web in many markets, as it is more economical, says
John Gauntt, senior analyst at digital ad tracker
eMarketer. With a computer, "The cost of entry to get
Internet access is about $1,200 for the PC and broadband; a
mobile is a fraction of the cost."

"The pace for mobile won't be set in the U.S.," says
Michael Baker, vice president and head of Nokia Interactive
Advertising. "It's a global medium that's completely
separate from all other channels of communication. It's
cost effective and usually the centerpiece of a strategy.
(That's) very different from what's going on in the U.S.,
which is mini-banner ads."

You might be surprised to realize that cell phones are
affecting our present business environment by the
widespread advertising now possible with the cell system.
This is in the 3rd world countries as well as well as the
industrialized cities. This is different from the internet
which has made the powers that be worried that there would
develop a huge divide(digital in nature) between the
developed and developing worlds. Cell phones are now hugely
popular world wide, they are looked on as glamorous as well
as being inexpensive. A users phone and how it
looks(decorations) acts as a personal statement.

In summary, cell phones are letting populations across the
globe develop their own personal micro-cultures. Cell phone
use is showing the average customer's ability to modify the
technology for different uses and purposes than the phones
were originally designed for. With the peoples new ability
to keep their private interactions really private, it will
encourage complex small cultures that are exclusive.

A Basic Rule Applies to Maximizing Your Twitter Experience

OK. The title of this article may be a bit tongue in cheek,
since I am a tremendous advocate of Twitter but if you
don't use it correctly, well, it can be just a waste of
time.

What Do I Mean?

Twitter is now one of the most popular, or possibly the
most popular, social networking website on the internet.
Millions of people 'tweet' each and every day. If all you
want is to find out what strangers are doing on almost a
minute by minute basis, that's fine. But if you ask me, and
I know you haven't, that a waste of time.

What you really need to do is figure out 'the why' about
your use of Twitter. For many people today the only reason
to use Twitter is to promote their online or 'brick and
mortar' business.

Having thousands if not hundreds of thousands of Followers
can be a real head trip but for the most part that is all
it is. There is no probability that most of these people
have any interest in what you're saying or doing. Locating
targeted followers is critical when working with Twitter.
There are several applications that can help you attract
just such a targeted Twitter market.

If you are marketing to a world wide audience Twitter is an
excellent resource. However, just any audience can still be
a waste of time. As mentioned, most businesses have a
particular target market or audience. If that is the case
with your business you need to target your Twitter market
in much the same way you would target market to a live
audience.

If you have a 'brick and mortar' business and have a world
wide audience, than the same rules about targeting may
still apply. However, if your business, both online or
'brick and mortar' is local, than reaching a world wide
audience is most likely a waste of time.

If your business is 'local' than attracting a 'local'
market is what you need and want. Fortunately, there are
also several online tools that can help you find local
'Twitterers' who may be a match for your business.
Geographic targeting is extremely important if you are
going to maximize your Twitter experience if your business
only deals within a specific geographic region.

In conclusion, Twitter is by far one of the most powerful
tools we have to promote our businesses online. If you have
unlimited time and really love to know what food someone on
the other side of the world is eating at that very moment,
than.....well, just Twitter away.

Most people, however, are now looking to use Twitter to
help promote their online or 'brick and mortar' business.
Using generalized targeting along with geographic targeting
can make a tremendous difference in your success or your
time on Twitter being a 'waste of time'.

Five Reasons Why Online Businesses Fail

New online business operations are started every day world
wide as more people seek the benefits of working from home.
Whether the reason for starting a new Internet business
stems from curiosity, need for extra money, or loss of
employment outside the home the advantages of an online
business can be extremely attractive. Unfortunately the
statistics show that there are more casualties than
successes in the home business industry. Before you call it
quits, however, there is a popular adage that says knowing
what the pitfalls are is half the battle. My intent with
this article is to highlight five of the top reasons for
online business failure so that you can avoid being another
home business industry negative statistic.

Reason #1: The online business was not a good choice.

Few Internet entrepreneurs start their first online
business with a firm idea of what they are going to make
money from. The majority of home business owners will
search for an opportunity because of a real or perceived
need; since there are many thousands of Internet
opportunities to choose from often what happens is the
first one to attract a person's attention is the one they
begin their online business journey with. Whether it is an
enticing sales page promising the level of income that
would address or exceed needs or the type of business
matches a personal interest the process of choosing the
online business may determine success or failure from the
outset.

Some opportunities turn out to be deliberate scams or
simply "too good to be true". Other online businesses just
turn out to be the wrong fit because some details were
unclear until after starting or the entrepreneur misjudged
their own knowledge of the business product or service.

Reason #2: There was no business plan in place.

It can be relatively easy to simply jump into a business
opportunity with no business plan in place. It does not
take more than a few minutes to sign up and pay for an
online business opportunity without planning or research.
Of course it stands to reason that if you are responding to
an advertisement promoting quick riches with little or no
effort it stands to reason that a business plan would not
be in sight because it shouldn't be needed. A business plan
maps out the strategy for financing the online business as
well as marketing and other important details typically put
in place to turn vision into reality. If there is no
business plan then either there is no direction or it rests
in the hands of others.

Reason #3: The business plan was not followed.

With a business plan in place there should be guidelines
and limits. Exceed your monthly advertising budget and fail
to follow through on planned marketing should prompt the
realization that either the online business is off track or
the business plan requires revision. But unless the
Internet entrepreneur is disciplined to follow the business
plan they created it can quickly become a useless piece of
virtual paper that has no real bearing on direction or
success.

Reason #4: There was no support or coaching.

Everyone needs some form of support for their online
business. A significant contributor to online business
success or failure is the support received through means
such as coaching, a friend who listens and provides
feedback, or a business forum. Support in the home business
industry can take many different forms so the lack of it
entirely would be a clear danger sign to those looking to
join an online opportunity. If an Internet business owner
decides not to avail themselves of available support
options then they have mostly themselves to blame if things
do not proceed as desired.

Reason #5: The intangible costs were higher than
anticipated.

Assuming even just a little conscientious spending, when
tangible (i.e. monetary) costs are higher than bugeted
there should be no surprises. That is what a business plan
and budget is designed for after all - to make the decision
to overspend a deliberate one. But in addition to the
financial costs of owning and operating an online business
there are less tangible ones that can just as easily spell
defeat. An example of an intangible cost is the impact on
family life caused by working from home instead of outside
of it. The reality is that for some people or situations
working at home creates interpersonal stress that was
likely not fully anticipated and was not part of the
picture when they were leaving the house for work.

In conclusion, there are many reasons why an online
business can fail but knowing about them means they can be
avoided. Aiming for success a new or experienced Internet
entrepreneur can research business opportunities before
joining, develop a workable business plan and follow it,
take advantage of the support available and monitor the
impact of working from home.

Where To Get Used Goods To Sell On eBay

Most people start selling on eBay by listing used stuff
from around their house. This is an excellent way to get
familiar with how eBay works. But you can't make a
sustainable business doing that - eventually you'll have
nothing left to sell! You can take this a step further and
seek out used stuff to sell on eBay at carboot sales,
jumble sales, pound stores, charity shops, auctions,
pawnbrokers, etc.

In a "perfect market", every buyer would know what every
seller was selling and at what price. If one seller's price
was higher than every other seller's price - no one would
buy from him because they know they can buy cheaper from
the other sellers. If one seller dropped his price, the
other sellers would have to drop their's or no one would
buy from them.

But the second-hand goods market is NOT a "perfect market".
Every buyer does NOT know what every seller is selling for.
This leads to price discrepancies enabling you to buy goods
at a LOWER price that you can then sell on eBay at a HIGHER
price. This is called "arbitrage". The difference in your
buying and selling price, minus your costs, is your profit.
Here's an example ...

Some Denby Daybreak crockery is for sale at a jumble sale.
Denby no longer make the Daybreak line so it can only be
bought second hand. There are a few hundred people at the
jumble sale, but none of them are looking for crockery and
none of them have any Denby Daybreak crockery at home.
There is no demand for the crockery at the jumble sale so
it won't sell - no matter how cheap it is.

That same crockery is then listed on eBay. Throughout the
world, there are MILLIONS of people searching eBay at any
given time. Of course, they are not all looking for
crockery. But SOME of them WILL be. And of course, not
everyone who is looking for crockery on eBay will be
looking for Denby Daybreak. But SOME of them WILL be.
Provided that it has been listed correctly, anyone looking
for Denby Daybreak on eBay WILL see the listing for the
crockery which is now in demand. Several people will
compete to buy it, pushing up its price.

So you can get used products at very low prices,
particularly from jumble sales and charity shops, and
re-sell them on eBay for massive mark-ups.

You can use conventional off-line auctions as a source of
used products to sell on eBay. Ideally you need to get hold
of a list of the auction lots in advance, so you can look
at eBay's Completed Listings search results to find out if
they sell on eBay and how much they sell for. You can then
decide on whether you want to bid on each lot and the
maximum that you are prepared to bid knowing what you are
likely to be able to sell it for on eBay to make a profit.
If you can't get a list of the lots in advance, you need to
have wireless access to the internet to do your research on
eBay while you are at the auction (or 'phone someone who is
sat by a computer!)

Sourcing stock to sell on eBay from auctions can include
online auctions such as eBay itself! Many auctions on eBay
don't get any bids because they are listed in the wrong
category or the listing is poorly written. You can buy
these items on eBay at bargain prices, improve the listing
and re-sell them on eBay at a profit.

Many people misspell the title of their listing. As most
people search for items on eBay using keywords that appear
in the listing title, titles that have been misspelled
won't appear in the search results and so will get no or
few bids resulting in a much lower final selling price.
Locating such misspelled listings can enable you to buy
products at a bargain that you can re-list correctly and
make a profit. By doing a Completed listings search on that
item, you will know how much you could sell it for if you
listed it correctly and so would know how much you would be
willing to bid on it to make a profit.

All you have to do is enter "misspelled items on eBay" in a
search engine's search box and you will find many websites
that enable you to enter the keywords relevant to the
product you are looking for and they will find all the
current listings on eBay for that product that are
misspelled.

Another way to locate cheap items to sell on eBay is to do
an eBay search by clicking on Advanced Search next to the
Search box that you will find on most eBay pages. Then
conduct a search on the key words "No Reserve" in "All
Categories" to include "title and description" in the price
range of 1 cent to, say, $10 in the Auction buying format.
Then click on the Search button.

The results pages will display items that HAVE to sell, no
matter how low the highest bid is, because there is No
Reserve. Scroll through the results pages and place
ridiculously low bids on any high value items that you
reckon you could re-sell on eBay. But read the listing
details BEFORE you bid to make sure that there aren't any
defects that are affecting the price; or outrageous terms
such as inflated handling and shipping costs; or that the
item must be collected in person from a remote island!

Obviously, you will get out-bid on most of these auctions
but OCCASIONALLY you might just win a high-value item for a
ridiculously low bid. By improving the way you list it you
may then be able to re-sell it for its true value.

There are also many online auctions other than eBay. Most
of them are little known and so get much less traffic than
eBay. Consequently their listings tend to attract far less
bidders which means you may be able to buy items at a
bargain that you can re-sell on eBay at a higher price.
Again, it would be very easy to minimize your risk because
you can use eBay's Completed Listings search results to
determine what the item is likely to sell for on eBay
before you decide how much you are willing to bid for it.

A good
promotional campaign is the core of successful business. However promotion
doesn't have to be expensive. Your display
signage is a great way to reach and influence customers.

Display Signage Is Economical
Marketing

With all
the advertising options available, display signage is still one of the most
effective methods of capturing customer attention. One of the great strengths
of visual displays is their immediacy. Once you capture customers' attention,
all they have to do is walk into your business. With commercials, flyers and
other advertisements the customer has to make a more deliberate effort to reach
your company and it's too easy for them to become distracted.

Signs are
inexpensive and durable. Once you buy the sign, it keeps sending out your
message for no additional cost, bringing in new customers every day. Other
types of promotion keep costing you month after month if you want to keep your
message visible to the public.

Signage Design Tips

Since so
many people are going to see your display signage, you need to consider the
design very carefully. A sign is simply a communication medium and you want to
be sure it is sending the message you think it is.

How far
away will people be viewing it and how fast will they be moving? Visual
displays for an indoor mall shop will be different than those for a store
looking out on a busy freeway. If your visual displays are an
indistinct blur, it can't do its job. Use simple designs and fonts. Fancy
lettering may seem like a good idea, but often it just makes it hard for
viewers to read the name of your business. Your logo should be clearly
displayed so even if customers can't read the name, they will still know it's
your business.

Putting Up the Sign

Once you
have your display signage, you need to place it properly for maximum impact. It
should face the direction you expect most traffic to come from. If you have
multiple avenues of heavy traffic, use more than one sign. Most signs are
either parallel with or perpendicular to the front of the building, but a
diagonally mounted sign can be seen from both directions. Many businesses use two
signs in the classic wedge shape so customers can see it from the front, left
or right of the store.

Place
lighting so the sign is clearly visible at night, even if your business isn't
open during these hours. The sign sill acts as a promotional tool at times the
business is closed. If it is well-lit, potential customers will remember your
business and may come by the next day.

Change your
display signage from time to time. A sign left in the same place for too long
becomes part of the landscape and people stop seeing it. By changing the
design, you keep your business image fresh in the minds of passing customers.

The design
of signs and other visual displays
allows organizations to deliver messages more complex than words themselves.
You can take the same text, put it on signs with different design schemes, and
produce completely different feelings in customers. It's important to be sure
your interior graphics are giving the message you want.

What Do Colors Say?

Colors
attach powerful emotions to your interior graphics. Reds project feelings of
energy while blues are more calming. Dark colors can be unwelcoming while
bright colors attract attention. The saturation of a color has a direct
correlation to the strength of its effect on people. While the psychology of
colors is not an exact science, it is a technique used extensively by marketing
professionals.

One of the
most common examples comes from the fast food industry. Most fast food interior
graphics use shades of red and orange. Why? Because studies have shown these
colors both increase appetite and make people fidgety and want to leave. This
embodies the fast food industry - eat and run. These color schemes have
contributed to greater food sales and to faster customer turnover.

Setting the Mood

What message
are you trying to send to your customers with your interior graphics? You can't
choose an effective decor until you pin down what mood you are trying to
create.

In the fast
food example, restaurants of this kind don't want to be too welcoming. They want
a steady stream of customers moving in and out of the establishment. However a
health spa would prefer creating a more relaxed atmosphere. They would use a
cooler palette to have a calming effect on people. A dentist's office might use
the same tactic to reduce anxiety in nervous patients.

Color isn't
the only tool to create mood. What images appear in interior graphics are
powerful influencing forces as well. Stylistic choices can strongly influence
the type of customer who frequents the establishment.

Design to Your Demographic

Business
owners should consider the type of clientele they want to attract as well as
the population mix of the area when planning interior graphics. Consider
the decor options for a small coffee shop. A business located in a downtown
area would use a traditional decor aimed at young professionals on the job. A
coffee shop located in an area of the city with an older, retired population
might choose displays more reminiscent of a 1950s restaurant.

The wrong
design choices can reduce customer flow. Hip modern design in an area with
older customers is likely to fail as locals head to businesses with more
familiar decors. Similarly, a design which works with older people could be
seen as stodgy and old fashioned to younger clients.

Age,
income, profession and more can influence what kind of graphics makes a given
customer feel comfortable. All of these should be considered when designing
interior graphics.

eBay Powerseller Perks

The aim of many who sell on eBay is to become what is known
as a Powerseller. There are a lot of perks that come with
this title, which is why a lot of eBay sellers covet it!
Having this title not only gives these members special
treatment but it also means that they have a good
reputation for selling on eBay.

So what exactly is a Powerseller and how do you become one?

The ebay Powerseller program works a little bit like an
exclusive club for those who have proven that they can sell
on eBay and give a great consistent performance. Only the
top sellers are invited to join the program and they enjoy
benefits that normal sellers don?t have access to.

There are several ways to become eligible for Powerseller
status. There is a requirement for consistently good
feedback and high Detailed Seller Ratings (DSRs). Starting
at the Bronze level, the seller must sell on eBay, within
three consecutive months, a total of £750 in sales or
a quantity of 100 items. So theoretically a seller could
sell on ebay 2 items a month at £375 each for at
least 3 consecutive months, or 100 items at £5 each;
either way they would qualify for Bronze level. The levels
move up through Silver, Gold, Platinum and Titanium, the
highest level. Perks get better and better the more you
sell on eBay!

So, here are some of the benefits:

Powersellers are trusted by buyers as genuine and
trustworthy because their feedback and DSRs reflect that.
In general, some people may have doubts about buying online
but dealing with a seller who has a good reputation is
reassuring and sellers will see their sales rise further.

Preferential treatment is also given regarding the eBay
customer service department. There is access to a telephone
number which Powersellers can call if they have any selling
queries or problems. This is because eBay recognises their
ability to generate higher sales which then results in
higher fees and so more profits for ebay!

eBay buyers like Powersellers because they have
credibility. They know that they are not dealing with
someone who will simply take their money and run, therefore
they are likely to spend more on their purchases.

Discounts on selling fees are given to Powersellers who
continually perform well. So you will see your sales rise
and your fees fall! In addition to offering an attractive
inventory and therefore making multiple sales month after
month, good marketing will also increase your sales and
help you on your way to becoming a Powerseller.
