Barbie dolls have been a long time favorite since their
creation in 1959. Young girls have delighted in dressing up their Barbie dolls,
comparing outfits, and collecting accessories for decades. Contrary to her
critics, Barbie dolls provide little girls with a variety of positive learning
and social experiences as they and their friends play with their beloved Barbie
dolls.

Each year, special outfits and accessories have been made
available to little girls and collectors alike. In addition to clothing, shoes,
and other fashion accessories, Barbie dolls also come with cars, patio
furniture, houses, pool side equipment, and pretty much anything else
imaginable, creating a wide range of imaginative play opportunities.

Barbie Toy Reviews

The best way for parents and collectors to discover what is
available in the world of Barbie games, toys, and fashions is to make use of
online Barbie toy review sites. Barbie toy review sites provide a wealth of
information, as well as ordering opportunities. With so many Barbie games to
choose from, toy review sites offer shopping by category, customer comment
sections, toy ratings, and age recommendations.

The range of information and accessibility made possible
through toy review sites makes them the best place to look for Barbie games,
toys, fashions, and everything else Barbie. The latest additions, trends, and
product reviews give parents and collectors all of the information they need to
keep their Barbie game collection up to date and complete.

So Much More Than
Fashion

Playing with Barbie games, dolls, and clothing is so much
more than fashion. Playing with Barbie games and clothing allows little girls
to interact with their friends, to create their own style, and explore the
possibilities of color, texture, and form, all while having a great time.
Little girls learn how to mix and match a variety of materials, colors, and
styles, all while developing the finger and hand dexterity they will need in
school to develop their writing skills.

Eye-hand coordination is only one of the useful skills
little girls learn as they play with Barbie games, dolls, and clothing. New
Barbie games include household items, digital learning tools, musical
instruments, hair braiding, dying and styling opportunities, and so much more.
This is not merely dressing up a doll and tucking her in bed for a nap. Barbie
games provide little girls with a basis for social interactions, artistic
development, and self expression.

Collections, Play,
And Outdoor Activities

Styling stations, learning games, videos and DVDs, play
along guitars, and even a digital fingernail printer are just a few of the
Barbie games available through toy review sites today. Little girls can create
outdoor play and beauty stations, drive a Barbie car, or simply sit under a
shady tree with their friends and compare fashion notes among other topics.

Collectors know all too well how the price of Barbie games,
dolls, and fashions continues to rise. Staying abreast of what is available and
what is about to be released allows collectors to make the best purchase
choices possible. Again, toy review sites provide the information buyers need
to get the best deals possible on Barbie games, toys, and fashions.

Lake Straining Water as Part of a Redundant System for Potable Water

The lack of available water may have made the large acreage
parcel available near Corpus Christie Texas a bargain when
Terry Anderson envisioned his 5 acre lot development and
retirement home, Anderson calls George West Texas home when
not traveling the continent in his MCI Vision Coach
converted diesel pusher or cruising the Mississippi in his
56 foot Skipperliner yacht.

"Anderson knew there were problems getting enough water
from the well, cistern or catchment options and the
adjacent reservoir to support even a 2 person residence. He
created a four prong approach to solve these problems based
on his experience as a successful problem solver and
inventor."

In addition to their primary well as a water source, the
covenants on each 5 acre lakeshore lot required each owner
to set up a lake strain slow sand filter using ECOsmarte's
Glass Pack filtration media, a residential well water
treatment system to treat both the residential well water
and the lake water, complete with bacteria and algae
control in the required holding tanks.

As an early shareholder of ECOsmarte and a life long
inventor, Anderson knew with this approach he could sustain
the 5 acre residences (even with swimming pools) and went
one step further. All black water was to be used for
irrigation through an anaerobic system he developed for
both his bus and the boat.

"Only the dogs can tell which irrigation zones are black
water, and which ones are reservoir water. The dogs prefer
the treated black water." Anderson mused.

The Anderson's do not generate enough grey water or black
water to irrigate to the green grass standard from his days
in Minnetonka, MN so they have allowed one irrigation zone
and the auto fill on their pool to be supplied from their
holding tanks, which come from either the well or the
reservoir.

Anderson is well under way on his second development in the
water strapped Black Hills region of South Dakota, with one
well servicing multiple homes in another one of his five
acre lot projects.

Based on Anderson's success a similar package was
engineered for an upscale townhome group in Belize, and an
RO system was added to desalinate the water in both the
ocean source and the brine intruded well.

The Belize system draws first on the large cisterns, second
on the 8,000 sodium level well and the ocean at 40,000
sodium as the final option. This strategy minimizes the RO
operating cost.

How Do I Write A Cover Letter That Helps In Getting Job Interviews?

Have you ever sat down with someone and asked, "How do I
write a cover letter to get more interviews?" If so, what
was the person's reaction? Although it is becoming a better
known part of the job seeker toolkit today, the idea of
cover letter writing as a means of getting job interviews
was largely ignored by many.

Although as a rule, we've given most of the attention to
resume development - and rightfully so - the art of cover
letter writing has not been as well developed. Until now!

We now understand the importance of writing a good cover
letter in getting job interviews. Here's why:

If your cover letter does not catch the reader's attention
right away - even before getting to your resume - you have
just missed out on an important part of the equation. You
MUST get and hold the hiring director's attention right
away - within the first critical seconds he or she picks up
your cover letter! Therefore, asking "How do I write a
cover letter to get more interviews?" is one of the
smartest questions you can have.

To get - and hold your reader's attention, a good cover
letter should contain the two following important
components:

1) A salutation directed to a real person. In other words,
no more "To whom it may concern," or "Dear Hiring
Director." Because you now know the importance of cover
letter writing to get more interviews, the days of the
bland salutation are gone forever!

Instead, you will make sure that you know precisely who
your cover letter is going to. Right? Right! And how will
you get that information? If it isn't listed in the job
posting or otherwise found in your research on the company,
you will find it by calling the company and asking!

That's right! It's really that simple. You don't have to
worry about a "gate keeper" not allowing you to speak with
the person - all you want is the person's name. You can
tell the gate keeper that you are just doing the best job
you can to ensure that your job application cover letter
goes to the right person. All you need is the appropriate
person's name, correct spelling (don't forget that one!),
and title.

2) The other important component of your cover letter is a
powerful opening line or statement that lets the company
know exactly why you are the best person for the job. For
this example, let's pretend that you want a sales rep
position at a computer software firm. Instead of the usual:
"I am enclosing my resume herein as my application for the
position I noted in yesterday's Reporter News," (which -
even if YOU aren't yawning as you read that - will
certainly have your READER yawning), you want excitement,
conviction, and energy in your words!

See how this sounds in comparison: "Your need for an
energetic representative to help Ajax Software's sales
efforts came through loud and clear to me. Here are 2
primary reasons why I believe I am the perfect candidate
for the sales rep position..." and then below, you can
explain what those 2 compelling reasons may be!

So, if you have been asking "How do I write a cover letter
to get job interviews?" then applying these 2 points alone
in your job application cover letter, along with the
confidence and knowledge that you have exactly what the
company needs will instantly improve your cover letter
writing abilities and bring you to the top of the resume
heap!

And because you are writing a good cover letter that grabs
someone's attention right away, you have already received a
"gold star" in the reader's mind and you are one step
closer to getting job interviews!

People become teachers for a
variety of reasons, but most do it because they love impacting students in a
positive way. Nearly everyone has a story about that one teacher who encouraged
them when no one else would and it's because of stories like this that teachers
can influence students well after the school bell stops ringing.

One of the best ways teachers can
positively influence a student's life is by determining how they learn best and
cater to that style. While that can be difficult to do, a new teaching method
called the Tutor Saliba is making it possible for teachers to influence all
students.

Teaching The Quiet Student With
The Tutor Saliba Method

Every classroom has a quiet, shy
student or two. These students like to blend in with the background and are
uncomfortable reading out loud or getting up in front of the class. These quiet
students typically like to sit back and listen.

The Tutor Saliba method recognizes
that these students are uncomfortable being in the spotlight and that a
lecture-based classroom is best for them. As long as the student is doing well
with the lecture based program, there is no reason for a teacher to be greatly
concerned about a shy student. Teachers can try to gently draw these students
out, but should do so with care and compassion for the shy student.

Teaching The Boisterous Student
With The Tutor Saliba Method

Just as every classroom has a shy
student, most also have one who enjoys being the center of attention. This
student needs to talk and talks often! One way teachers can easily keep this
student engaged using the Tutor Saliba method is to ask him or her to read
aloud or lead a small group.

Sometimes it is necessary for this
student to sit and listen quietly. Many teachers have good luck in achieving
this by handing out suckers or other pieces of small hard candies before
lectures. These types of candies do more that just add a bit of a sugar rush
into the students -- a mouth busy with a piece of candy or sucker doesn't feel
as compelled to talk!

Teaching The Doodling Student With
The Tutor Saliba Method

Another student type is the one
who sits and doodles all day. They may have notebooks full of drawings and not
much else. These students like to keep their hands busy while they study.
Teachers can help these students stay focused by requiring note taking and
checking a notebook every few days.

These students also do well with
working up at the board. Students can do math problems, write out spelling
words or any other task the teacher can think of to keep their hands busy.

This method is one way that
teachers can help all the students in their classroom. Teachers today are
overtaxed and often left on their own and this method is an easy way they can
help manage their classrooms.

The latest trend in education is
the Tutor Saliba teaching method. This unique method realizes that students all
learn best in different ways and attempts to teach all students using the
spoken word, visual aids and listening to others. This teaching method can be
adapted to work with many different ages and this article outlines how the
method works on three different age groups.

Setting kids up for positive
experiences in school starts in pre-school. A child who loves pre-school is
prepped to love learning and school for the rest of their lives. Because of
this, it's especially important for children to enjoy pre-school.

Pre-school students are learning
basics and enjoy learning by singing, coloring and generally just having fun.
Pre-school classrooms should be colorful and fun so kids don't even know
they're supposed to be learning valuable academic and life skills. Coloring,
playing, singing and watching fun activities like puppet shows are all easy
ways to help all pre-school age kids learn and love school.

Junior high school students pose a
unique challenge for teachers. Adolescents this age are full of crazy hormones,
changing bodies and short attention spans so teachers need to pull out all the
stops and tricks to get them to pay attention. This makes the Tutor Saliba
method the perfect way to teach junior high age students.

Students can retain information by
working in small groups, reading out loud from a text book, doing worksheets,
listening to a traditional lecture and watching an overhead projection
presentation. All of these teaching methods are ways to reach all students.

Students who are taught using this
method typically have higher test scores than those taught in a traditional
lecture only based classroom. This is especially important since many school
districts are depending on standardized test scores on funding.

It is a little more difficult to
use the Tutor Saliba method on college students. This is because college
students are encouraged to go through the majority of the material on their
own, without a lot of guidance from a professor or teaching assistant. That
doesn't mean a professor can't help the students use the method, however.

Professors can encourage students
to study in small groups, make flash cards and other visual aids and read out
loud in order to retain the necessary information. By the time a student
reaches college, many know how they learn best and will have the tools they
need to succeed.

This learning method is perfect
for any age since it can be easily adapted. No matter how old your students
are, consider using this method. You may be surprised at the effect it has on
your students and their academic well being.

Born Again

The Westminster Confession calls to a necessary element of
salvation: "the inward work of the Holy Spirit" (WCF 1:5).
John said that "unless one is born again he cannot see the
kingdom of God" (John 3:3). Peter said, "Blessed be the God
and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great
mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope
through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead" (1
Peter 1:3). Later in the same chapter Peter further
clarifies, "Having purified your souls by your obedience to
the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another
earnestly from a pure heart, since you have been born
again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through
the living and abiding word of God; for 'All flesh is like
grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass
withers, and the flower falls, but the word of the Lord
remains forever.' And this word is the good news that was
preached to you" (1 Peter 1:23-25).

Peter tells us that being born again in Christ is a
necessary part -- even the foundation -- of the gospel or
good news of Jesus Christ. Regeneration is not optional. It
is a fact. All Christians are born again, and if someone is
not born again s/he is not a Christian. God has sent His
Holy Spirit through the ministry of Jesus Christ -- his
birth, death and atonement for sin. And there is no
salvation apart from the invasion of the Holy Spirit into
the life of the believer. Just as God invaded human history
through the birth of Jesus Christ, so the Holy Spirit
invades our personal lives through the regeneration of
individual believers.

The sending of the Holy Spirit is the initial or essential
gift of God's grace, for the Holy Spirit carries the
message of salvation and redemption to God's people. The
Holy Spirit brings the message of salvation to each person
individually. Through the Holy Spirit the message of
salvation is internalized -- made real in a personal way --
because the Holy Spirit resides within the hearts and minds
of Christians.

Paul wants to "impart this in words not taught by human
wisdom but taught by the Spirit" (1 Corinthians 3:13). Most
versions of the Bible use the word speak rather than
impart. The Greek literally means to utter speech. It is
important to note that the gospel is shared through words
transferred from one person to another, sometimes spoken,
sometimes written. This impartation of the Holy Spirit is
not magical, but is a function of ordinary speaking and
writing. No candles in a darkened room, no special
charismatic languages, no mumbo jumbo, no special touch
from the master. Just words. Paul's letters provide the
example of how it happens.

Paul was converted (born again) on the road to Damascus. He
was taught about Jesus Christ by the Spirit, not by men
(Galatians 1:1). Paul's conversion changed his heart and
mind, and he spent the rest of his life talking about
Jesus. His talk consisted of preaching, writing letters and
individual counseling or conversations.

Paul tells us that his recommended method of teaching is to
compare spiritual things to spiritual things. In other
words, worldly things are inadequate to explain spiritual
things. Another way to say it is that the truth of
Scripture is self-evident to the born again. Or Scripture
teaches Scripture. Or analogous things in the world always
fall short of biblical truth. The illustration of biblical
truths with nonbiblical, worldly stories always falls short.

Would you go to a natural man to learn spiritual truth? Of
course not. Would you go to a non-Christian to learn about
Christianity? Of course not. And why not? As Paul said,
"the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit
of God, for they are foolishness to him; neither can he
know them, because they are spiritually discerned" (1
Corinthians 3:14). Show me someone who thinks that
Christianity is foolish, and I'll show you a worldly
person. The reason that they think Christianity is foolish
is that they cannot perceive the reality of God.

Easy and Effective Resume Writing Strategies that Work

In today's tough economic climate, the competition for jobs
is fierce indeed, which is all the more reason we need to
be using effective resume writing strategies that work!

Here, we are not going to show you how to put your resume
together; instead, we will share five excellent resume
writing tips that you can use.

Tip #1: Know the job and company you are targeting.

Do your research before you start or update your resume.
Look up the company you are applying to, and learn
everything you can about it. Search online, talk with
people in the industry, and make notes. Learn their mission
statement, what their goals are, and how they are perceived
in the community.

Notice that when you are researching the company, you are
likely to see a few things or facts that stand out or are
repeated. Also, this type of research could bring issues to
the surface that you might not have noticed or learned
about earlier. In fact, you might also uncover some
information that might make you uncomfortable about the
company, showing you that they may not be a good fit for
you. Remember, even though you are focusing on their needs,
and how you can benefit them, using effective resume
writing strategies means that it has to feel good to you,
too!

When you are armed with plenty of information about the
company and the job that you're targeting, you can begin to
formulate some key phrases that you will use in your
resume, whether it's in a qualification or an
accomplishment.

Tip #2: Talk their talk.

In other words, use language in your resume that the
company and industry uses. Don't go overboard on jargon,
but using industry terminology further shows the company
that you know what you're talking about.

This can be a very valuable tip if you are posting your
resume online. It is possible that an employer might search
candidates using specific keywords and keyword phrases -
and if you have these in your resume, this could help bring
your resume to the top of the pile.

Word of warning: Use keywords and keyword phrases
judiciously. Don't overuse them, otherwise you could be
perceived as "keyword spamming.Just use them where
appropriate, in a natural manner. A good rule of thumb is
that one keyword or keyword phrase for every 100 words of
text should be fine.

Tip #3: Prepare your resume so that it targets one job and
one company.

Thanks to the marvels of word processing, it is relatively
easy to tailor your resume to the job and company your are
targeting. If you are sending out 5 resumes to 5 different
employers, make sure each resume is specific to each
company. You can do this by putting a simple addition to a
summary statement, such as: "How I Can Help ABC Company's
Finance Department.. ." or some such statement.

Specifically mentioning the job and company in your resume
will set you apart. The employers will see that you spent
time focusing on them. These are not only effective resume
writing strategies, but strategies that also show employers
that you are different. You really care. You really do want
to join their team! You look like a winner!

Word of warning: Be double sure, no... make that triple
sure that you carefully review every resume you send out to
ensure that you are matching your resume to the right
company!

Tip #4: Highlight critical and important information.

It is perfectly acceptable to highlight information that
you want to be sure your reader sees. Consider that you
only have a few seconds to get someone's attention on your
resume, and that someone is likely only scanning through at
first. Knowing that, if, in your accomplishments, for
example, you state that you have managed 35 accounts worth
$1.2MM each, you might want to highlight it by either bold
facing it, underlining it, or italicizing it, thereby
increasing the odds that the reader sees it.

Therefore, the wording would be: "Managed 35 accounts worth
$1.2MM each..." with it either boldfaced, italicized or
underlined. I prefer underlining, but do what feels best to
you.

Tip #5: Make sure that your resume reflects the job and
salary you want.

I shudder when I see resumes that downplay the individual.
It's almost never intentional, but it is very common to see
someone (especially younger, more inexperienced workers)
say something like this: "Seeking an Entry Level Position
in Marketing."

How terrible! That statement tells the employer that the
job seeker is only worth about $10 per hour (or less), even
if the position is slated to pay $20 per hour. It also
sends a message - even if it's an unconscious message -
that the worker is 1) inexperienced, 2) not confident, and
3) not qualified.

Don't let your resume give the impression that you aren't
worth the $20 per hour that you know the job should pay!

So, how do you word your summary statement or title at the
top of the resume? Even if you are not terribly experienced
or somewhat new to the job force, accentuate what great
benefits you have that you're offering the company! Don't
be timid, or afraid to flex your muscle!

Using the previous example, try this: "Seeking to use my
skills and knowledge to help ABC Company's Marketing
Department.. ."

Or, for example, let's say you have 5 years of sales
experience, and your best quarter was when you sold
$200,000 worth of services to 5 different accounts.

You wouldn't want to state that you were "seeking a sales
position." Instead, try this:

"Looking to join the ABC Company's sales team where my
previous high-volume sales experience will benefit your
bottom line..." and underneath that statement, you might
highlight: "Sold $200K to 5 accounts within first quarter
of 2009."

Of course there are countless other effective resume
writing strategies you could use during your job search -
far more than we have room for here! But these should get
you started on the right foot!

Public Speaking - How to Handle Interruptions

Public Speaking - How to Handle Interruptions

In public speaking, distractions can arise in the form of
interruptions. These interruptions have the potential to
distract the audience and as a consequence cause the
speaker to lose control of their audience. Interruptions
can range from late arrivals to hecklers.

Some planning and preventative measures can decrease the
likelihood of some disturbances such as a noisy ventilator
or a flapping window. By arriving early and checking out
the room these types of issues can usually be remedied
before the meeting starts. Also, sometime the arrangement
of the room can lend itself to distractions. For example,
where people are to sit behind you on stage this can be a
distraction to the audience. If possible, the seating
arrangement should be re-arranged to prevent this
competition.

However, careful preparation will not prevent some
disturbances and distractions occurring. Ordinary ones such
as late arrivals and sudden departures are best ignored.
Problems with the microphone or the audio-visual need to be
sorted as quickly as possible, and a prepared quip for the
situation will help to keep control of the audience.

Other ongoing nuisances like a noisy air conditioner (not
spotted by the pre-meeting checks) will normally be
attended to by a member of the audience. However if no one
makes a move, the speaker can interrupt their speech and
make a move to quieten the disturbing noise. Normally, the
gesture is enough, and a member of the audience close at
hand will be quick to abate the annoying sound. Outside
noise such as a siren or the roar of a plane should be
ignored unless it is too loud and interferes with your
talk. If this is the case take a pause until it has passed.
Again a quip can be used to regain the audience's attention.

If the disturbance is created by a member of the audience,
the organizer or someone seated close to them will usually
deal with the nuisance. A personal appeal on your part may
lead to unexpected consequences.

Hecklers are best ignored, difficult as this may sound. If
you do not acknowledge them and they continue to be
offensive, the audience will normally help you out. You are
an invited guest and as such you will be protected by them.
The age of chivalry is still not completely dead.

Engaging in light banter with a heckler will only serve to
encourage the intruder. It is important to keep your temper
and maintain your dignity and composure. Keep your mind on
your speech. When you interact with interrupter you are
unfairly ignoring the rest of the audience.

You must remember the majority of an audience are on your
side and want you to succeed. It is important to continue
to be professional at all times and you will keep your
listeners onside throughout the interruption. In public
speaking, as with show business, the attitude is "the show
must go on."
